The Grimes Plantation in Grimesland, N.C. was the home of Civil War Major General Bryan Grimes, the last major general commissioned in the Army of Northern Virginia. The estate stood in disrepair after decades of neglect until Eddie Smith, a prominent local businessman, purchased the property and completed an extensive rehabilitation of the buildings in 2011.
